Eating Pre and Post Massage

I would liken the type of food and drink you need to have before and after my treatments akin to what you should have before and after a workout. The actual treatments cause very similar demands on a cellular level as workouts do. For example, if you have knotty shoulders and I massage them, endorphines are needed and sent to alleviate the pain (not putting you off I hope!), the muscle fibres will want to divide and regenerate, and a lot of energy will be used up and need replacing, waste-products and existing toxins in that area will be released into the blood and lymphatic systems. All of these are characteristic of a workout too, are they not?

So make sure you haven't eaten a heavy meal beforehand, because when you do you divert a lot of energy and resources into digesting that meal, and we need those energies and resources for the area being treated. Similarly make sure you drink plenty of water (a pint or a litre would not be too much) before and after the treatment. So that there is plenty of fluid in the body to transport the good stuff into the cells and the bad stuff out, and to flush the kidneys out too as they will be dealing with greater than normal levels of by-products and toxins.

After the treatment, you will be wanting to have a good balanced meal with a good spread of vitamins, minerals, proteins and the like. I am never anything but impressed by the meals at George Mateljan's World's Healthiest Foods website.
