Myles Hocking - Sports Therapist

I think it would be pertinent for you to know a few things about my history and what has motivated me to become a massage and sports therapist who wants to help you. To start at the very beginning my mother caught German measles when she was pregnant the effect of which was that I was born fine and dandy apart from some issues with my heart and lungs. This meant I couldn't run around or play sport at all as a child. My health degenerated in my teens and I was put on the transplant list at twelve and at fifteen I got a call saying they had a matching donor.

I survived the surgery and luckily I have carried on in that vein since 1991. You do the math! I'm very lucky, but the anti-rejection medication has a lot of side effects on the body. So despite being given an amazing lease of life by cutting edge surgeons and surgery I feel a lot of my quality of life has come from the complimentary and alternative therapy which I have regularly undergone. I feel it is the massage and treatment that has helped my digestive system to such an extent that I take a quarter of the medication most other outpatients have to take, in both quantity and volume and hence I suffer less side-effects too.

The next event that threw me towards alternative therapy looking for help was a constant daily headache that started back in 2003. It may have been a combination of tough rugby tackles and stress from my divorce but nobody has ever found a precise cause. I tried many different treatments unsuccessfully and eventually in desperation I tried fasting as the pain seemed to get worse after heavy meals and it worked to a point. At the same time my MRI scan, CT scan, and lumber puncture all came back all clear but I was left with intermittment daily headaches and I didn't want to try the propanalol drug the consultants mooted as I heard it could wear off after a year or two and leave you worse off.

Finally I got some further rugby injuries and saw a myofascial release therapist Christian Platts. I was so impressed with the results I became his paduan for a while and now I am here a fully qualified sports therapist. Healthy, pain free and ready to help you be the same.
